This piece is one of my favorites to date. The rope is a simple "slim" Russian Spiral and the pendant is a hollow beaded bead fashioned to look like a lantern. What is unique about using a hollow form as the pendant, is that it allows me to "include" a small, important object during the creation process. The form is permanently closed, so the item gets completely sewn in and is not visible once the piece is finished. The idea is to create a personal "guiding light"--a lantern lit at its core not physically, but symbolically. A lock of a child's hair, petals from a wedding bouquet, even a small vial of ashes (if that's to your taste)--whatever is of great importance in the wearer's life, a token to remind the wearer of the light that guides him/her.
Thanks to everyone who came out to visit me at the craft show! I loved talking to everyone and I hope that at least a few of you joined the mailing list so you can get all the latest news and sneak peaks of work in progress for the next show.
On that note, I will definitely be appearing at the spring Zonta Craft Show, but I may be doing a few smaller shows between now and then so I will keep you posted.
I am also hoping to have an online storefront up and running sometime in early 2012. I'll probably give an opening week discount code to my loyal followers through the blog, so keep an eye out for that magic e-mail if you're subscribed to me!
I thought I'd post some of the pieces that will be available for purchase at my booth during the Zonta Holiday Craft Show. This is one of my favorite pendant designs and also one of my first original designs: The Dragonfly Star
I currently have four of the light green color scheme and two of the indigo/black color scheme. There is a third color scheme (of which I will have three) that is not pictured here but will be displayed at the show.
I am currently working on a tutorial for making it, which will be my first tutorial ever. :) Look for the tutorial to be posted sometime in Late Dec/ Early Jan.
Just a quick post to let everyone know that it is official: I will have a booth at the Zonta Craft Show's overflow area in the Pierre mall November 12 and 13. Zonta is being kind enough to provide free transportation from the mall parking lot to the Ramkota to help alleviate the limited parking at the conference center, so if you want to stop on by and see my booth, be sure to take advantage of the hassle free parking and complementary shuttle service. Hope to see you there!
